Ponchatoula UMM Starts Prayer Breakfast for All Men

On October 12, 2011 six men from Ponchatoula First United Methodist Church met at  a local cafe in Ponchatoula, Louisiana for the first of what will be a weekly prayer breakfast.  While it is being started by currently active members of the local unit of  United Methodist Men, it is open to all men ( at Ponchatoula FUMC or from elsewhere) who want to join in on any Wednesday morning at 7:00am at the Berrytown Corner Cafe in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

After eating breakfast together ("Dutch Treat") they read the devotional for the day from "Strength for Service to God and Country" as well as the Bible scriptures referenced by the day's devotional page. After sharing in a discussion of how the message in the devotional entry and scripture read seems to apply to what is happening today in their own lives individually, they verbally compiled a list of persons and needs to be remembered in a closing prayer together.

Attending this prayer breakfast startup were ( from left) Larry Ryan, Clarence Gilyard, Don Hutches, Rev. Mike McLaurin, Tom Fry, and Kirby Larpenter (behind camera).

Invites The Ladies to Thanksgiving in July

For it's July 2011 meeting, the Ponchatoula UMM invited their wives and the wives of deceased members to join them for a turkey dinner prepared by President, Richard Kissinger. The meeting was informal with no business discussed. Everyone enjoyed the meal and sat around in relaxed conversation.  Were you there?  Why not?

UMM Met "Down By The Riverside"

The May meeting was held on the Natalbany River at the home of Monte and Rita Moncrief. Monte and Rita hosted the group with a traditional grilled steak dinner in the very relaxing atmosphere out on the deck of their river side home.
