  United Methodist Student Sunday

On Sunday, November 20th, Ponchatoula First United Methodist Church  welcomed the Rev. Drew Sutton to our pulpit as we celebrate United Methodist Student Sunday.  Pastor Sutton heads up our United Methodist Campus Ministry at the LSU Wesley Foundation on Baton Rouge.  A native of New Iberia, LA, Pastor Drew played on the New Iberia Senior High Tennis team and was president of the Ecumenical Youth Fellowship at New Iberia 1st UMC.  He went from there to Centenary College in Shreveport where he was student body president.  This last May, he received his Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.   He has served as Director of Youth Ministries and as Coordinator of Communications at Broadmoor and Grace Community UMCs in Shreveport.  His mother, the Rev. Ann Sutton, is senior pastor of Northwood UMC in Lafayette.  His father, Scott Sutton, is a banker in Lafayette and is also a very layperson at Northwood and in the Cursillo movement.  Please come out Sunday to hear and meet Rev. Drew Sutton!

MEET ME AT THE CROSS

First United Methodist Church of Ponchatoula hosted a community prayer breakfast at 7:00 in the morning on July14, 2010.

All from the community were invited to come meet at the large cross on the corner of the church lawn on the main street of town to join in prayer for our community, our state, and our nation and for guidance for all of our elected leaders.

The gathering was well attended and many elected officials from the town and parish were there also.

Following the brief service there was a light breakfast served in the Fellowship Hall.
